Staggering Lamps from the Noted Arthur Elrod Design for John and Eunice Johnson

$45,000

About

An absolutely amazing pair of large scale antique Asian statues, as custom made lamps. The figures are consistent with carvings produced in Thailand, circa 1900. These incredible pieces served as the memorable entry foyer focal point in the noted Arthur Elrod design of the Lake Shore Drive home of John and Eunice Johnson, circa 1972. Intricately carved mahogany figures with unbelievable detail and scale. Craftsmanship and execution that is beyond incredible. Exquisite pieces that will establish the tone for an important home. It is not known if Mr. Elrod, himself, customized the figures, or if he acquired them for the Johnson project already set up for lighting. Excellent restored condition. The lamps have been professionally rewired using clear cord; new three-way brass sockets with brass turn switch. Complete with new neutral silk shades (size: 13″ x 18″ x 12″ high) and carved finials. Diameter noted is per the base. The height noted is to the top of the finial. The price listed is for the pair.
