Rare Five-Drawer Chest by American of Martinsville

A beautiful example from a rare series by American of Martinsville, circa 1950. Stout, expertly made mahogany case construction. Fabulous “wormhole” detail on the drawer front adds an element of texture. The A of M designers were always cognizant of great furniture being produced by rival manufacturers. Here, the influence of both George Nakashima and Paul Laszlo are evident. Excellent restored condition. The chest has been professionally cleaned and re-lacquered. Retains the maker mark. For custom lacquer color, please add $500. There are other examples from this series in our inventory that have been restored in cream lacquer, for reference. There are two of these chests available. The price listed is for one-piece.
