Mr. Rutili was a seminal furniture designer of the 20th century who is sometimes overlooked in retrospect. Many of his designs are more sophisticated, cutting edge and downright fabulous than any produced during his era – his work takes a backseat to no one. This pair of Johnson Furniture Company end tables, circa 1955, are a mesmerizing example of this Gentleman’s awesome talent. Exceptionally crafted two drawer case veneered in bookmatched birdseye maple, atop a black lacquer mahogany base with a cerused oak shelf. Material selection and execution that is beyond incredible. Stunning solid brass hardware accent the drawers. This pair is intended to accent an important space. Excellent restored condition. The chests have been professionally cleaned and meticulously restored and re-lacquered. All hardware has been professionally cleaned and polished. The brass demonstrates wonderful patina. Retains the maker mark. The price listed is for the pair.
