An incredible Art Deco commode by the esteemed Donald Deskey for Widdicomb, Grand Rapids, circa 1935. Expertly crafted mahogany case construction veneered in exquisite bookmatched curly maple. The top markings are so dramatic that it appears to be faux-painted – but it is not. The maple demonstrates movement and color so clear and crisp that it resembles reverse painted glass. The apogee of design, craftsmanship and material selection from a bygone age. An unforgettable organic relic intended to anchor a cherished room. EXCELLENT RESTORED CONDITION. The chest has undergone a meticulous complete professional restoration. The finish demonstrates exceptional depth, sheen and luster. Retains the Maker mark.
