An exceptional pair of bombe small chests from a difficult to find series by Bert England for John Widdicomb. Stunning mahogany form finished in an exotic oil-drop lacquer. Striking solid brass hardware mark the case front. These rare examples are from the Orientation collection designed by Mr. England and introduced in 1965. Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful designs in the Widdicomb archive. Often, the smaller accent pieces are the most critical component in the creation of a memorable room. The solid brass hardware has been professionally hand-polished and demonstrates fabulous patina. The chests measure: 18 x 18 inches at the widest point. The top surface measures: 15 x 15 inches; the base plinth measures: 13.5 x 13.5 inches. Measurements listed are per the widest point of the chest. Retains the maker mark.
