Exceptionally Rare Restored Pair of Modern Chests by Widdicomb

A stunning pair of modern three-drawer chests by Widdicomb, circa 1930. Stout, expertly crafted solid Oak construction. Beautiful fluting detail accent the case and drawer handles. A textbook example of minimalism and understated elegance. Extraordinarily rare examples; research of auction results can uncover no comparables. The particular Manufacturers tag dates the pieces to the early 1930s. The left/right case form and continuous rounded inside chest corners/handles are consistent with the work of the esteemed Donald Deskey. Mr. Deskey produced designs for the Widdicomb firm between 1930-1935. Excellent Restored Condition. The pieces have undergone a meticulous restoration and are newly finished in cream lacquer. Retains the Maker mark. The price listed is for the pair. For change of lacquer color, please add $500 per chest.
