Coveted Pair of Saffron Walnut Chests by Robsjohn-Gibbings for Widdicomb

An incredible, surviving pair of chests from a limited series designed by T H Robsjohn-Gibbings for Widdicomb, circa 1950. Seldom are these chests available for sale and research of auction results unearths no comparables. Exquisite walnut case construction in the original saffron finish. Exceptional craftsmanship and quality. These functional pieces are designed to form a large credenza when aligned side by side. The finished back allows the cases to stand freely in a room. Particularly dramatic when juxtaposed against a darker wall color. The unmistakable look of old money! Excellent restored condition. The chests have been professionally cleaned and polished. The original finished displays a fabulous warmth, depth and luster. Retains the Maker mark and the “John Stuart” retail badge. The price listed is for the pair.
