A remarkable Tromp L’oiel style dining or center table by the visionary Betty Cobonpue, circa 1980. Steamed reed rattan with a stunning ribbon detail over solid mahogany construction. Rich tobacco color mellowed to perfection. A magnificent Art Nouveau influenced design intended to serve as the focal point for an important space. Execution, material selection and craftsmanship that is beyond incredible, a true Work of Art. This rare example is from Cobonpue’s boutique Sculptural series. A glorious illusion! Excellent restored condition. The table has been professionally cleaned and re-lacquered. The finish radiates fabulous depth and luster. All rattan is intact and complete. The table is 25 inches in diameter at the base, the top measures 23 inches at the widest point. The table is engineered to accommodate a significantly large piece of glass.
