Mr. Rutili was a seminal furniture designer of the 20th century who is sometimes overlooked in retrospect. Many of his designs are more sophisticated, cutting edge and downright fabulous than any produced during his era – his work takes a backseat to no one. These Johnson Furniture Company chests, circa 1955, are a mesmerizing example of this Gentleman’s awesome talent. Exceptionally crafted cerused oak case construction with lovely detail. The drawer fronts are veneered in bookmatched bird’s-eye maple. Material selection and execution that is beyond incredible. Stunning solid brass hardware accent the drawers.
